I had to paint you to express my pain after losing you—a witty, gentle, good, decent, intelligent human being.

This is a very personal painting that I had to paint to express my pain after losing a very close human being, a gentle, funny, intelligent, reasonable, decent human being. I had known him my whole life and loved him more than I could imagine. He loved music and books, played guitar, and wrote poems and music.
I painted it and must move on, so I am selling it.

In this piece, I’ve merged surrealism and symbolism using acrylic and oil to depict the intriguing contrast between innocence and the macabre, finding beauty in the unexpected.

Unaware of the hard life waiting for him in the future, a young boy is juxtaposed against a haunting spectral face, encapsulating themes of growth and the lurking essence of time and memory. The vibrant, contrasting colours evoke deep emotional layers meant to captivate and provoke thought, bringing profound energy into any space they inhabit.
